Dive into the thrilling world of innate immunity with me as I unravel the intricate dance between viruses and their hosts! My research dives deep into the fascinating world of innate immunity, exploring how organisms detect viral invaders and unleash powerful interferon-driven defences, activating a cascade of virus-fighting genes. Using state-of-the-art, genome-wide, and high-throughput technologies, I am uncovering the secrets behind why some hosts resist viral attacks while others fall victim, revealing the genetic and molecular factors that determine the outcome of these life-and-death encounters.

At the heart of my work lies the fascinating interplay between viruses and host cells—how they manipulate each other, hijack replication machinery, and wage molecular warfare to outsmart immune defences. Using state-of-the-art transcriptomics and proteomics, I am peeling back the layers of viral pathogenesis, exposing how notorious pathogens like influenza and coronaviruses have cunningly evolved to dodge our immune systems.

But the excitement doesn’t stop there! I am also tracking the evolutionary twists and turns of RNA viruses, deciphering how their genetic changes shape their ability to spread, cause disease, and jump to new hosts. This knowledge powers my mission to revolutionise vaccine design, craft smarter immunisation strategies, and develop rapid, precise diagnostic tools to detect and differentiate viral subtypes.
